Amazingly Great!

For the past two days not to mention last week's free sessions with my student Karen, I had her and her mom in the school to coach her for the English speech contest this morning here in Rui An. I am so happy to know that she passed the elimination round and now she's into the next step of her goal. As her coach and teacher, I am giving all my best and patience for her to succeed in her dreams. She is so inspired to become an English teacher and like me to teach kids like her in the near future.

The funny thing that happened last Thursday was after her session with me her mom asked me what do I like to drink. I replied that an orange juice would be good. Indeed, I got a bottle of orange juice with two big cartoons of coconut palm juice in cans. I was just caught in awe upon seeing the man carrying the two cartoons inside the teacher's room that day. I really thanked her mom in her own tongue and she was really happy to hear I can speak some Chinese.

Definitely there would be more sessions with Karen but I don't mind it because it has been my pleasure to share my knowledge to everybody since day one.

It Has Been

Last week was very taxing for me since I had four classes in a row last Sunday and I had students who fought in my class last Saturday! whew! Gosh, I was really terrified and trembling while the incident was happening. I kept on calling the staffs and they came rushing to my room and settled things down with the two kids. I then wrote an incident report for that,,,I need to document everything and phone the kids' parents. But after all, the most important thing is that I learned and I grew more on how to handle kids especially the naughty ones.

Frank

This morning class was quite fun with the kids. At first I was worried a bit because only one of them came early - Frank, the smartest kid in my class. Every time I have this kid in my class, everything would be just right and definitely exciting. Whew! He is just the right motivating factor to have in such a boring class. I am glad to have him in my class. This afternoon the monitor asked me of how he is behaving in my class as well as with my other kids. I told everything - perfomance in class, behavior, and some recommendations for the parents to do at home with their child. After a few minutes, the monitor came inside the office and told me the parents' feedbacks of their child. It was positive and I was happy to know that Frank is so eager to come to school. He even woke up early one Wednesday morning just to come to school early when in fact it was our day off here. Chuckles A pat on my shoulder indeed.
